At CaseWare, we are committed to giving back to our community. So we are proud to partner with the Melbourne-based charity FareShare.
What is FareShare?
FareShare is a not-for-profit community organisation that rescues surplus food and cooks free, nutritious meals for Victorians doing it tough.
Did you know that every year, two million Australians will experience hunger? And in that period of time, we’ll also waste 200kg of food for every man, woman and child in the nation.
So Melbourne food charity FareShare is doing something about this by rescuing surplus, quality food from supermarkets, farmers and other businesses that would otherwise end up in landfill.
With the help of 800 regular volunteers, FareShare cooks this food into 25,000 free nutritious meals a week for Victorian charities – such as soup vans, homeless shelters, food banks and school breakfast programs. We do this in Australia’s largest charity kitchen, based in Abbotsford.
How is CaseWare supporting FareShare?
Through our own internal fundraising activities, we make regular donations to FareShare to help cover the day-to-day running costs of the charity and their kitchens. We also look for opportunities to allow our customers to also contribute – look out for our donation tin on the CaseWare stand at industry conferences!
With the FareShare Abbotsford kitchen just a short tram ride from our office, the CaseWare team also regularly heads down there to roll up their sleeves and get involved in the great work of this charity. As well as being a fabulous team exercise, cooking up a storm and contributing to reducing hunger in ‘the most liveable city’ makes us feel all warm and fuzzy!
